Hit The Ground Running with our Back To School Hints and Tips

We honestly can't believe that the start of term is once again in sight. Summers seem to get shorter, so it's important to hit the ground running come the start of school.  As busy parents the less stress you have, the better, right?

We've gathered together a selection of hints and tips to make parenting life so much easier as your kids go back to school.

Plan Breakfast!back to school breakfast

It's going to make your life so much easier if you get cups, bowls and plates laid out the night before, ready for breakfast time. You could even reserve a shelf in the fridge, ready to go for breakfast and maybe step it up a level and reserve a shelf for lunch items too?

Get Lunch Box Savvy

Have everything together on the fridge shelf for pack lunches, you'll easily see when you’re running low, and if the kids know that area is off limits you’re less likely to discover on Sunday night that they’ve eaten all the snack lunch packs of crackers at the weekend.

Set Rules

Start as you mean to go on by setting rules about screen time for the school year. What's allowed and when?

Get your kids involved in programs that they can do after school to keep them active.

Maybe, as a parent, your New Year's resolution is to lose weight?  Give up smoking? Drink less? Be more mindful? Let's not forget our little ones, this year's resolution could be to get your kids active.

The World Health Organization (WHO) regards childhood obesity as one of the most serious global public health challenges for the 21st century. As we're all more than aware, obese children and adolescents are at an increased risk of developing various health problems and are also more likely to become obese adults. Find out how you can join in with #NewYearNewActivity and discover the world of childrens' activities throughout the UK!

anti bullying

We're supporting Bullying UK's (part of Family Lives) initiative to stamp out bullying

We asked Bullying UK for some tips and advice that we could share with our school age users

Build Confidence in Your Child

We wondered if there's a secret to having a confident child.

boost your childs confidence

Is it introduced through parenting, is it inherited?  Maybe so.

What we have found is that creative and active after school classes go along way to boosting self esteem in children and therefore helping to increase confidence in children. Self esteem is considered by professionals to be the foundation of a childs well being and key to success as an adult.

So if you don't have the most confident child you may want to think about an after school class that could increase confidence without them even realising!
