This is going to be a regular slot in our newsletters, I am going to be out and about experiencing all the things available to us kids, that we may not have heard of.  

This week I learnt how to save a life. Available to eight to 12-years-old, Rookie Lifeguard allows us kids to enjoy the fun and receive recognition for our achievements at the same time. The Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS UK) has launched Rookie Lifeguard, a children's water safety programme designed to save young lives. This teaches youngsters valuable skills to help them stay safe in the water and lives have already been saved by children taking part in the lessons.

I arrived at the pool a little nervous, I have never had to rescue anybody before. The lesson began with a class playing games that teach us how to spot people having problems on the beach or at the pool. Then it was time to get wet, we played water polo, a game with weights in teams and that was after practicing special swimming techniques that lifeguards use.

I was exhausted but had a lovely time, thanks so much to my great instructor.
